On July 24th, the vibrant world of manga and comics came to life at the Rạch Miễu Stadium in Phú Nhuận District, Ho Chi Minh City. The event surpassed all expectations by drawing in over 5,000 passionate fans, eager to immerse themselves in their favorite manga and comic cultures.

The event kicked off at 9 AM, but the excitement was palpable long before then, with many enthusiasts arriving as early as 5 AM, some traveling from distances of 200-300 km. The overwhelming turnout even led to the early closure of the event entrance to ensure safety, with the cosplay contest shifting to a livestream format at a different location.

Hoàng Việt, a 22-year-old attendee, shared his enthusiasm: “I was so excited that I woke up at 4 AM to get ready. Given the high registration numbers, I made sure to be in line by 6 AM. I hope next year’s event will expand to accommodate even more fans.”

Mr. Trương Gia Bảo, President of the DTS Digital Transformation Alliance, co-organizer of the event, highlighted the significance of Manga Comic Con as a valuable playground for young people with shared passions. “Manga Comic Con will be an annual event, providing a platform for both Vietnamese and international youth to connect,” he affirmed.

Mr. Tô Quốc Nghi, representing the organizing committee, emphasized the necessity of such events in Vietnam. “Young manga and comic enthusiasts often have to travel abroad to countries like Thailand and Singapore for similar events. We aim to create a local platform that fosters community spirit and offers Vietnamese companies a chance to connect with the youth,” he explained.

The event also celebrated creative talents in digital art, with the DTS Artist Award honoring three outstanding creators: Thỏ 7 màu, Thăng Fly, and Gia Đình Ngộ, whose contributions have significantly influenced the digital art landscape in Vietnam.

Manga Comic Con 2022 featured 50 exhibitors, including MVOT, The SEAM cosmetics brand, and Kim Đồng Publishing House. The event offered a rich array of cultural experiences spanning manga, comics, and cosplay.
